Terroseal Building Guard

Advanced Protection Against Dampness, Seepage & Salt Attack

Dampness and moisture can severely damage any structure over time. Water seepage inside walls not only weakens the construction but also leads to peeling paint, fungal growth, efflorescence, salt deposits, corrosion of steel reinforcement, cracking, and structural deterioration. Repairing these issues later can be expensive and inconvenient.

To protect your building from moisture-related damage, proper waterproofing treatment at the right stage of construction is extremely important.

What is Terroseal Building Guard?

Terroseal Building Guard is a water-based, high-performance water repellent compound specially designed to protect masonry and cementitious surfaces from water penetration. It penetrates deep into the substrate and forms a hydrophobic barrier beneath the surface that blocks moisture while allowing the structure to breathe naturally.

Unlike conventional coatings, Terroseal Building Guard does not create a surface film. The treated surface retains its original appearance with little or no visible change after application.

It provides long-lasting protection against:

  • Dampness

  • Efflorescence

  • Salt attack

  • Water seepage

  • Freeze-thaw damage

  • Cracking and spalling

  • Moisture-related deterioration

The cured system is UV resistant and can also be used as a protective sealer beneath surface coatings.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Deep penetrating water repellent technology

  • Forms invisible hydrophobic barrier

  • Highly vapour permeable – allows walls to breathe

  • Prevents water absorption in masonry surfaces

  • Reduces efflorescence and salt deposits

  • Enhances life of plaster and paint

  • Resistant to UV exposure

  • Prevents damp patches and fungal growth

  • No surface film formation

  • Long-lasting performance

  • Easy spray application

  • Water-based and user friendly

Recommended Areas of Use

Terroseal Building Guard can be used during construction as well as maintenance waterproofing applications.

Ideal Application Areas

  • Plinth level protection

  • Exposed brick walls up to 4 ft height

  • External walls

  • Balconies

  • Toilets and washrooms

  • Terraces

  • Masonry surfaces

  • Brickwork before plastering

  • Areas affected by rising dampness

How It Works

Terroseal Building Guard penetrates deep inside the pores of bricks and masonry surfaces and chemically bonds within the substrate. After curing, it creates a water repellent zone that prevents moisture penetration while maintaining natural vapour transmission.

This helps the structure remain dry without trapping internal moisture.

Application Method

Surface Preparation

  • Surface should be clean, dry, and free from dust, oil, loose particles, or contaminants.

  • Remove dirt, algae, or old loose coatings before application.

Dilution

  • Dilute Terroseal Building Guard with an equal quantity of clean water (1:1 ratio).

Application

  • Apply uniformly by spray, brush, or roller.

  • Ensure complete saturation of the surface.

  • Allow proper penetration into the substrate.

Plastering Over Treated Surface

Once Building Guard is applied on bricks or masonry, the water absorbency of the surface becomes extremely low. Traditionally, surfaces are pre-wetted before plastering to prevent dry substrates from absorbing water from cement mortar.

However, in the case of treated surfaces, the substrate itself no longer absorbs excessive water. This actually helps in retaining moisture within the cement mortar, which is beneficial for proper cement hydration and curing.

A practical example can be seen in traditional stone constructions used across many parts of India, where plaster adheres successfully even on naturally non-absorbent stone surfaces.

Recommended Plastering Process

  1. Apply Terroseal Building Guard and allow it to penetrate properly.

  2. Prepare a cement slurry.

  3. Apply the cement slurry coat over the treated surface.

  4. Allow the slurry to become tacky for a few moments.

  5. Proceed with plaster application normally.

This process ensures excellent bonding and durable plaster performance.
